Codes of Conduct

St Therese's Netball Club (STNC) are proud to be a Good Sports Club. Good Sports is working with communities to create stronger, healthier and more family-friendly sporting clubs – helping them to gain new members and attract sponsors. Codes of Conduct

Player Code of Conduct

As a member of the STNC, players acknowledge their responsibility as a representative of STNC.

  • Players agree to behave in a responsible manner and observe the spirit of fair play and behave accordingly on the sporting arena.

  • Players agree to conduct themselves in a proper manner so as to ensure team harmony and so as not to bring themselves, or the club into public disrepute.

  • Players acknowledge that this agreement and their obligations extend to their conduct on and off court, including at sporting venues, accommodation venues and attendance at social events and functions.

  • Players agree to conduct themselves so as to perform at the best of their ability and carry out their duties to the team to the best of their ability.

  • Players agree to observe and comply with reasonable directions of STNC staff including coaches/team managers and agree to abide by STNC policies and procedures as documented on our website.

  • Players  agree to comply with statutes and regulations of Netball Victoria.

  • Players agree not to engage in any unlawful behaviour or harass or intimidate umpires, officials, players or spectators.

  • Players agree to wear the STNC uniform while participating in training sessions and at competitions.

  • Players agree to attend all organised team sessions unless they am unable to do so whereby they will inform the head coaches or STNC staff or team manager as directed.

  • Players agree that they will participate/attend any team/club functions that the club deems necessary including presentations and fundraising activities.

  • Players acknowledge that if it is determined that they have breached this agreement they have an opportunity to meet with STNC staff and their coach.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

  • Players agree that their selection and participation is subject to the payment of the specified registration amount in a timely manner, as directed by the club treasurer or committee.

  • Players agree to being considered a full team player once teams have been released and the season has commenced, whereby they are obligated to pay full team fees.

  • Players with unpaid registration fees may be restricted court time in the current season including finals and may not be offered positions in a new season, unless prior arrangements, such as payment instalments, have been made. STNC relies heavily on club fees to keep the club functioning.

  • STNC does not offer refunds on playing fees due to illness or injury throughout the season.

MEDICAL

  • Players agree to disclose in writing all relevant medical information to STNC staff prior to and during their participation.

  • Players agree that acting on advice from medical staff, coaches may direct them not to participate in an event if they believe participation would mean an unacceptable risk of: causing harm, injury, death to themselves or other participants in the event, aggravating an existing injury or illness they may have, or infecting other team members or participants in the event.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND AUTHORISATION

  • Players acknowledge that STNC strongly recommends that they take out Private Health and other insurance to cover me for medical and like expenses arising out of any injury or illness they may suffer whilst a member of the team and agree that players are solely responsible for all such expenses consequent upon any injury or illness.

  • Players agree that STNC is not responsible for medical and like expenses arising out of any injury or illness they may suffer whilst a member of the club and promise not to make any or commence proceedings against STNC in respect thereof.

  • Players authorise STNC staff to consent, where it is impracticable for them to communicate with the players emergency contact, for them to receive such medical treatment as may be deemed necessary. Players do this with the understanding that STNC will take all reasonable care and responsibility to ensure their safety and wellbeing throughout their participation.

  • Players agree that they will participate in events at their own risk.

  • Players agree that STNC is not responsible for travel arrangements organised independently or occurrences that result from these arrangements.

Parents/Guardians/Supporter Code of Conduct

By attending STNC events or games and supporting our team, parents, guardians and supporters agree to uphold the below code of conduct:

  • Promote fair play and encourage all participants to respect the game’s rules and spirit.

  • Respect decisions made by referees, coaches, and officials, and encourage others to do the same.

  • Show respect for all players and spectators, regardless of the game outcome.

  • Focus on positive encouragement, supporting players’ efforts and growth rather than just winning.

  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment by refraining from verbal or physical abuse.

  • Value the dedication and contributions of volunteers, including coaches, managers, and officials.

  • Encourage players to develop skills, play to their best, and enjoy the game without pressure to win.

  • Model appropriate behavior by maintaining respectful language and conduct at all times.

  • Use respectful language and avoid any derogatory comments or gestures.

  • Treat all participants with respect, dignity, and fairness, regardless of age, gender, ability, or cultural background.
